Search Autauga County Court Dockets

Bring a case number or a full name to the Circuit Clerk's counter in Prattville, and most Autauga County questions get answered on the spot. That office keeps the files for Circuit Court and District Court, which between them handle nearly every state case in the county. Probate matters sit with the Probate Judge's office instead, and a city ticket stays with the municipal court that wrote it. Alabama also sells statewide online access to case histories, which suits anyone who cannot make the drive. Dates change often. Check the newest notice before trusting a hearing setting, because the clerk's file shows the current one. For a stamped copy, ask the office that holds the paper, since a printout from the Autauga County court docket is not the same as a certified record.

Autauga County Paid Docket Access

Just One Look is no free county portal. Its paid report covers Party Information and Details. It also includes a Case Action Summary, Court Actions and Rulings, Court Setting Dates, Financial Information and Costs, and Document Images and Attachments. After a name search, each added case detail costs another $9.99. Images run $5 for the first 20 pages, then $0.50 per added page. Lifetime monitoring is listed at $19.99 for a District case. A Circuit case costs $29.99.

The official Just One Look landing page lays out the system and its prices. That page documents the paid route:

Paid remote access and free courthouse viewing are two different things. An ordinary portal image is not a certified court record. Only the clerk holding the original Autauga County file can certify a copy.

Inside an Autauga County Court Docket

Think of the Case Action Summary as a chronological index to an Autauga County case. It can show when the clerk indexed a filing. It also shows when a court setting was entered, and when an action or ruling appeared. Under Alabama's e-filing policy, a filer picks a general document Title and adds a Description. Both fields feed the summary. So a line marked as a motion proves only that an item was indexed. It never proves the judge granted the request.

When the result truly matters, read the order or judgment itself. Old settings can linger as history after a reset. Financial lines may reflect assessments, payments, or a balance. The clerk should confirm any sum before you pay. An Autauga County court docket is great for tracking a case, while a filed image or certified copy serves a different purpose.

Case numberA type prefix, year, sequence, and sometimes a suffix, such as CC / DC / CV / DV / TR.
PartiesThe case style and the people or entities identified in the proceeding.
Case Action SummaryDated index text drawn from filings, settings, actions, and rulings.
Court Setting DatesScheduled events that must be checked against the newest notice or order.
Document imagesFiled complaints, motions, orders, judgments, or attachments when available.
DispositionThe recorded result or status, which should be read with the final order.

Autauga County Docket Prefixes

Prefixes can steer an Autauga County docket request. Use them before any call or visit. Each short label points to a court division or case class, nothing more. One Circuit Clerk manages both Circuit and District files. The direct desk and room differ by prefix. Even with a code in hand, Juvenile and youthful-offender material carries access limits.

CC and DC
Circuit Criminal and District Criminal. CC generally holds felonies, while DC covers misdemeanors and felony preliminary stages.
CV and DV
Circuit Civil and District Civil. The amount and case type help choose the tier.
TR and SM
State Traffic and Small Claims. Municipal tickets may remain with the city instead.
DR and CS
Domestic Relations and Child Support records handled through their local division.
JU
Juvenile proceedings, which are not ordinary public docket content.

Calendar labels add a second layer. Prelims, DC Plea, DC Trial, Traffic Trials, Pay Docket Review, PFA, and YO/Plea all describe settings, and a setting code is never a final disposition.

Courts That Keep Dockets in Autauga County

The Autauga County Circuit Court serves as the general-jurisdiction trial court. Its docket carries felonies, family matters, and civil disputes over $20,000. Between $6,000 and $20,000, Circuit and District Courts share civil work. District Court holds exclusive civil jurisdiction through $6,000. It also handles misdemeanors, state traffic, felony preliminary proceedings, juvenile cases, small claims, and eviction. Municipal courts keep city ordinance and city traffic files. Estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, and name changes belong to Probate Court. Other statutory probate matters sit there too.

The Alabama Judicial System chart situates these trial courts beneath the appellate courts. Its hierarchy appears here:

This structure is why one event can spawn more than one docket. A municipal or District criminal judgment can reach Circuit Court through a trial-de-novo appeal. A later appellate case then belongs with the relevant Alabama appellate court.

Autauga County District Docket

District Court sits at the heart of the Autauga County court docket, carrying a large share of local traffic and lower-tier matters. The official Autauga District Court page names its jurisdiction and local judge. That official page covers the division:

Fiscal year 2023 figures show the docket's real scale. Autauga District Court received 9,350 cases that year. Traffic accounted for 72 percent, small claims 11 percent, criminal 5 percent, other civil 5 percent, juvenile 5 percent, and child support 2 percent. The court disposed of 9,219 cases. Given that spread, TR, SM, DC, DV, JU, and CS routes should stay separate rather than collapse into one general records request.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings

Autauga County posts no free daily or weekly court calendar portal. Start with the newest notice or signed order. The paid service Just One Look advertises Court Setting Dates. Once you have a date, confirm the entry. The matching clerk division handles that. A judge's published staff can answer a judge-specific trial setting question. An archived 2019 District calendar circulates online. It shows real local terms but is not a current schedule.

Check the prefix before you call. Circuit Criminal and District Criminal/Traffic sit in Room 117. Civil and small claims sit in Room 114. Domestic and child support sit in Room 108, and juvenile sits in Room 107. Two dates may conflict. The latest signed notice or direct court confirmation controls over an older Autauga County docket line. The Autauga County Court Dates page explains each setting field.

Not every setting means a trial. Traffic, eviction, and garnishment each run on their own rules. A date on a traffic citation may mark an appearance rather than a trial. An answered eviction claim goes to a judge for review. The court then mails a trial notice. A timely garnishment contest brings a hearing. It comes within seven calendar days, or the next business day if the court is closed.

Autauga County Docket Search Gaps

A blank result in an Autauga County docket search is not the end of the story. Check the route first. A municipal ticket may not show up as state traffic, and Probate records stay with a separate office. Juvenile, adoption, youthful-offender, sealed, and expunged material may be restricted. A new traffic citation can also take time to reach the state system, and spelling, number, and court-tier mistakes remain common.

For a felony, call Circuit Criminal at (334) 358-6807. District Criminal and state traffic use (334) 358-6802. Circuit and District civil use (334) 358-6806, while small claims and eviction use (334) 358-6805. Domestic and support use (334) 358-6809. The Juvenile desk is (334) 358-6803, subject to confidentiality limits. A city matter starts with the issuing municipal court.

When nothing appears: check the court level, case prefix, city or state-ticket source, filing delay, and possible restriction before deciding that no Autauga County court record exists.

Public Access to Court Dockets

Alabama's consolidated Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality took effect in 2025. They open court records unless law, rule, or court order protects the information. Rule 401 goes further. It guarantees no-charge courthouse viewing of nonconfidential electronic dockets and records in Circuit and District actions during regular hours. Copy charges may apply. Remote access may run through a subscriber service.

The right does not open every Autauga County file. Juvenile legal and social records carry statutory limits. Adoption hearings are closed and final files sealed. Civil filings redact most digits from sensitive personal and financial identifiers. Final expungement removes covered records from ordinary public inspection.

Key Rules:

Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality set the statewide access, redaction, exclusion, and sealing framework.

Ala. Code §36-12-40 gives Alabama citizens inspection and copying rights for public writings, subject to legal exceptions.

Ala. Code §12-15-133 limits access to juvenile legal, social, medical, and agency records.

Ala. Code §15-27-10 requires final expunged records to be safeguarded from public inspection.

Autauga County Free Docket Viewing

Remote access and courthouse viewing are two different channels. If you can visit in person, the clerk's office lets you inspect an ordinary nonconfidential Autauga County electronic docket during business hours. The court-record rules set no viewing charge for that. Copies can cost extra. The clerk posts no general local copy form, certification price, search fee, turnaround time, or remote payment method.

The Autauga County Courthouse sits at 134 North Court Street, Prattville, Alabama 36067. Clerk counter hours run Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Note the midday closure. Call the direct division before you travel. The staff can confirm a file is on hand and that your access method works. The official site does not confirm a public terminal, fax or email copy channel, or ordinary visitor identification rule. Do not assume any of them.

Docket Records at Clerk's Office

Autauga County Circuit Clerk Debra Hill serves as the official record keeper and business manager for Circuit and District proceedings. Her office maintains pleadings and records, handles court funds, prepares subpoenas, issues notices of trials and hearings, and manages jury work. Skip the general courthouse switchboard. The clerk's division map gets you to the right desk faster.

A certified copy comes from the clerk. Alabama law lists certified transcript duties among the circuit clerk's responsibilities. The Autauga County clerk posts no general certification fee. Call the division before sending money or a mail request. Probate uses a different office. Do not route it to the civil desk.

Autauga County Probate Docket Split

The Probate Office keeps its own records. It handles estate, will, guardianship, conservatorship, adoption, name-change, and other statutory probate matters. The office sits at 176 West Fifth Street in Prattville, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The main number is (334) 361-3728. Those details differ from the Circuit Clerk's location and hours.

The probate recording index and images run from November 1, 1996 forward. Material from 1820 through October 31, 1996 lives on microfilm and in bound volumes. That boundary applies only to the Probate records room. It does not set the coverage dates for Autauga County Circuit or District case files.

Adoption records are generally sealed. An office email or a counter visit does not create a right to protected content. Each record follows its own law.

Autauga County Courthouse Record Route

Autauga County's working courthouse went up in 1906, built in a modified Richardsonian Romanesque style. An older 1870 Italianate courthouse still stands in downtown Prattville. Remodeling and an expansion came in 1962. The building is old and its layout cramped. The record divisions therefore sit in separate rooms. The county's official courthouse location page confirms the county site. That is worth a check before any docket visit.

Room 117 handles Circuit Criminal plus District Criminal and Traffic. Room 114 takes civil, small claims, and eviction filings. Domestic relations and child support sit in Room 108. Juvenile is in Room 107. Payments and bookkeeping are in Room 116. Security rules bar cellphones, recording devices, and certain sharp items. Call ahead, pick the right room, and plan around the midday closure.

Autauga County Court Dockets by City

The official 2020 Census list counts four incorporated places in Autauga County. Prattville and Millbrook straddle county lines. Their figures cover the whole city rather than just the Autauga side. Where a ticket or ordinance case starts depends on the court named on the citation. City matters begin with the issuing municipal court once that court is confirmed. State traffic belongs to District Court. Felonies travel through the county trial courts. The printed court name is therefore the safest guide for a docket search.

Prattville Docket Search

37,781 residents in the 2020 whole-place count. The verified city payment route is not a docket search.

Millbrook Docket Search

16,564 residents in the 2020 whole-place count. Municipal Court meets on the second and fourth Thursday.

Autaugaville Docket Search

795 residents in 2020. No official municipal docket portal was located.

Billingsley Docket Search

125 residents in 2020. The issuing court must be confirmed from the citation.

Each municipal docket search rests on different footing. Prattville has a verified payment vendor, and Millbrook publishes its court operations and payment rules. Autaugaville and Billingsley call for more cautious, county-level fallback routes. A city payment screen is never the same as the Autauga County court docket. It is not a certified city case file either.

Plan around the noon-to-1:00 counter closure. The courthouse's published jury rules bar firearms, knives, scissors, pepper spray, lighters, cellphones, and recording devices, so leave those in the car. The county publishes no general visitor parking policy. Calling the division first confirms that the file is available.
